MRV Concepts, Tools and Instruments

MRV Workshop

One of the objectives of Tebtebba Partnership on Climate Change and Forests is “to help develop and use methodologies and tools to guide and assess the implementation, monitoring and evaluation of mechanisms for benefit-sharing, obtaining free, prior and informed consent, full and effective participation, good governance and environmental safeguards.”

In particular, we hope to develop indigenous-sensitive and gender-sensitive monitoring tools and instruments for REDD Plus, and to be able to use these for the MRV of REDD Plus schemes at the country level, especially in indigenous peoples’ territories. Furthermore, we want to establish national multi-stakeholder bodies which can monitor and report on how REDD Plus policies and activities are addressing the safeguards contained in the REDD Plus Decision.

The Workshop of Indigenous Peoples and Supportive NGOs on MRV Concepts, Tools and Instruments was held on April 1-2, 2011 at Prince Palace Hotel, Bangkok, Thailand prior to the Bangkok Climate Talks. This was attended by 22 indigenous representatives from Asia, Africa and Latin America and by NGOs.
